Recording Automation in Session Ableton Live vid

Hello everybody, I tried the second method shown (creating an extra midi track) and could not get it to work. Anybody have success and tips how to get it right? I set up the IAC bus, routed the tracks, attached controller and moved the clip as directed, but my controller doesn't get recorded.

Are you sure you have the Track switch turned on for your controller? As long as that’s turned on, any messages the controller sends will be recorded into the clip.
