As our FAQ states, it isn’t possible to run multiple presets in MT Player, but it is possible to run two instances of MT Player. This would allow you to use two controllers with each having its own preset.
For example, you could use your Launchpad with LPC-Live while using your nanoKONTROL with nLII-Plus. Or, if you had two APC40s, each of them could run its own apC-CL3+TC3.
The following posts will cover how to set this up on OS X and Windows.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OS X- Launch MT Player and select the preset you want to use with your first controller.
- Go to your Applications folder, duplicate MT Player.app and give the duplicate a different name, like MT Player 2.app.
- Launch MT Player 2 and select the preset you want to use with your second controller. You may be prompted to set up your controller’s ports.
- In Live, the settings for the first preset will be identical to the settings shown in its manual.
- The settings for the second preset will be almost the same as shown in its manual, but you’ll use the port names that end with (Port 2). For example, instead of From MT Player 1, you’ll use From MT Player 1 (Port 2).
NOTE: The port names for each instance are created dynamically. This means that you should always launch the instances in the same order…MT Player, then MT Player 2. Also, you shouldn’t use MT Player 2 by itself. You should only use it when MT Player is also in use.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWSDepending on which two presets you’ll be using, you may need to use an additional set of virtual ports (like MIDI Yoke or loopMIDI). To determine this, look in the manual for the presets you want to use to see how many sets of ports they use. For example, if a preset uses From/To MT Player 1 and From/To MT Player 2, then the preset uses 2 sets of ports. If the total number of sets of ports used by the two presets is 3 or less, then you don’t need an additional set of virtual ports. - Launch MT Player and select the preset that is the more complex of the two. As an example, LPC-Live (which uses 2 sets of ports) is more complex than nLII-Plus (which uses 1 set of ports). Then close MT Player.
- Go to Program Files\MT Player and duplicate MT Player.exe and give the duplicate a different name, like MT Player 2.exe.
- Launch MT Player 2 and select your second preset. You may be prompted to set up your controller’s ports. You also may receive error messages here related to MT Player ports, which you can disregard.
- Right-click on MT Player 2 and select MIDI Settings. From the top menu, select OUT: MT Player 1 Virtual Out. From the menu below, select MT Player 3 Virtual Out and click OK.
- Go back into MIDI Settings. From the top menu, select IN: MT Player 1 Virtual In. From the menu below, select MT Player 3 Virtual In and click OK. Note that some presets (such as nLII-Plus) do not use this setting.
- (Only necessary if the second preset uses 2 sets of ports). Go back into MIDI Settings. From the top menu, select OUT: MT Player 2 Virtual Out. From the menu below, select one of your additional virtual ports and click OK.
- (Only necessary if the second preset uses 2 sets of ports). Go back into MIDI Settings. From the top menu, select IN: MT Player 2 Virtual In. From the menu below, select one of your additional virtual ports and click OK.
- In Live, the settings for the first preset will be identical to the settings shown in its manual.
- The settings for the second preset will be entirely different:
- Instead of From/To MT Player 1, you should use From/To MT Player 3
- (Only necessary if the second preset uses 2 sets of ports) Instead of From/To MT Player 2, you should use your additional set of virtual ports.
