first off i'd like to say hello. my name is roger, i'm 24 years old and live in norway. i've been playing with sounds and "making music" for about 2 years now, and i just got my padKontrol 2 days ago. strays' vids on youtube got me onto this forum. cheers i must say you really set that pK on fire bro' also i just installed Live. have been a faithful Renoise user, but i can see now that Live is quite powerful. my question, or, we may call it problem is that i can't quite figure out how to use the 'knob assign' buttons. i've read the manual up and down but i don't get any closer to what i want to do. what is it i'm trying to do? well, i thought that i could map like this: pad#1 volume knob in live pad#2 pan knob in live pad#3 pitch knob in live pad#4 gain knob in live ... and so on.. and then i could just hit 'knob 1 assign' + 'pad#' and i would be able to control the knob i had mapped to that pad on my pK assignable knob. this just doesn't work, .. uhm. any ideas? cheers

Welcome to the forum.
The reassign function only works on the bottom 8 pads….they have functions listed over top of them…Pitch Bend, Main Volume, Pan, etc. You’re reassigning the knobs to those functions…but you can map those functions to do whatever you want in Live. You don’t have to use them for Pitch Bend, Main Volume, etc. I hope that helps.

hm, .. i'm not quite sure here..
just to try it out i started a blank live set. mapped pad#9 to the 'send A' knob on track1. hit 'knob 1 assign' + 'pad#9' and no response.
are we talking about the same thing here?

Yes. But you don’t map pad 9 to send A. You first hit knob 1 assign + pad 9 and then map knob 1 (with the function you just assigned to it) to send A.
I hope that makes sense, I know it can be a bit confusing at first.
