Hey...what up...i'm new here and i'm new to using padkontrol...it's kickin' me arse over here. i've watched the video and i'm very interested in fully using the PadKontrol. i have some of it down, but sometimes i assign a pad to something and get a note too. what the? also...do i set one port for Live 6's global controls and, say, eq settings and one for musical notes by way of impulse or an instrument rack? and how do i set the x and y pads and knobs to use for controlling eq frequencies? i saw the video but still don't really get it. the manual i've pretty much ruined trying to figure this out. but still i have nothing. HELP....and thanks in advance for you patience.

Welcome to the forum. I answered the 2nd part of your question in the other thread.
I’m not sure what’s going on there. Are you assigning notes to control functions in Live?
I just use Port A for everything. For the most part, I’d suggest using CCs to control Live’s function and use notes for playing instruments.

thanks man! i thought that may have been the deal. could my drivers be an issue? can i use, say, cc#1 only once, or could i use it multiple times within a midi map? and, how do i get this TKP you speak of? thanks for getting back to me. and i'm still having issue trying to set up the EQ8 like you have in your video.

You can get the TKP d/l in the Link section.
And, yup, you can use CC#1 (and the other 127 CCs) more than once. There are 16 MIDI channels, so you can use them 16 times. But certain CCs have default functions, so avoiding them is a good idea. For example, CC#7 is volume, so that’s not a good one to use. Look in the back of the manual of the pK for the list of CCs. Try to stick to the ones that are Undefined.
Like I said before, the way I had that set up in the vid is not really a good way of doing it, but it’s pretty simple to set up.
Go into MIDI mapping mode in Live.
1. On the pK, hold down Knob 1 Assign and press pad 9. Click on band 1 frequency in EQ8 and turn Knob 1 on the pK. 2. Hold down Knob 1 Assign and press pad 10. Click on band 2 frequency and turn Knob 1. 3. Hold down Knob 1 Assign and press pad 11. Click on band 1 gain and turn Knob 1. 4. Hold down Knob 1 Assign and press pad 12. Click on band 2 gain and turn Knob 1.
Do the same thing for pads 13 – 16 except assign them to bands 3 and 4.
So holding down Knob 1 Assign/Knob 2 Assign or the X/Y assign buttons and pressing one of the bottom 8 pads assigns the knob or X/Y to the function you assigned it to in mapping mode.
So hold X assign and hit pad 14 to assign X b to and 4 frequency. Hold Knob 2 Assign and hit pad 11 to assign Knob 2 to band 1 gain.

so...first i have to activate the x, y, knob 1 and knob 2 in setting mode right? (i may not be using the right terminology) this makes them assignable...so...verily, i could assign the bottom 8 buttons to eq and the top eight in a fashion possibly using another type of filter or other effect, right? man,...again....thank you! you TOTALLY are getting one of my mom's batch of christmas cookies this year. now...well...i have a few other issues, but i think know that i know about assigning x y and knobs, things will get a bit easier for me....thanks again...you rock!

No, you don’t go into Settings. You just press and hold Knob 1 Assign (or Knob 2 Assign, or X/Y assign) and press one of the bottom 8 pads.
No, only the bottom 8 pads can be used for reassigning the knobs.
Lol…I’m gonna hold you to that.

They're FANTASTIC cookies too! Ok...another question. I downloaded the Live Keys pack and i'm having a lil problem getting them into Live. Is there a secret to this? i managed to get through adding the dennis desantis pack, but this one's killin' me.
