In the quest to save mouse clicks, here’s one more. You can open Live and MT (and anything else you might need) with one mouse click.
Open Notepad and type the following…
@echo off start “” “C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live 6.0.3\Program\Live 6.0.3.exe” start “” “C:\Program Files\Bome’s MIDI Translator\MIDITranslator.exe”
Save it as a *.bat file.
For the file paths, rather than type them out, just right click on their icon and go to properties. Highlight the location in the Target field and copy it.
Edit: You can also change the icon for the short cut. Right click on it, go to properties and under the Shortcut tab you'll have an option to Change Icon.

Really great tip. Had a little trouble at first coz I had copied the text from your post and replaced the file paths. Paths were ok but the "" symbols copied different than they come from my keyboard and so they weren't recognised. Might be a european keyboard thing again.
Also stashed the .bat file safely in C:\Program Files\_Bendy, created a dektop shortcut which I could then create a shortcut key command to in properties like this: Right click the shortcut, go to properties >shortcut >shortcut key then hold both CTRL and ALT and hit a number (i chose 2). now from any screen I hit CTRL+ALT+2 and i have both apps.
Also u can get into properties by holding alt and left clicking something - or if its already selected you can hit ALT+ENTER.
To select desktop icons without using a mouse hold Windows Key and hit "d" to get to the desktop (even if you're already at teh desktop) then hit Home and the top-left icon will be selected. From there u can use arrow keys. Holding the Windows key and hitting the letter that the icon u want starts with will also work but be careful of other built in windows shortcuts- windows+u is particularly irritating to back track from.
Go to Help and Support section in Start Menu and do a search for "shortcuts" and you'll find loads of built in windows shortcuts.
Hey Stray how bout a sticky like The Link stickies that could keep a list of shortcuts to be added to via PM to you? Thanks again for the wicked tip!
