Is there any way to trigger actions via notes WITHOUT using the MaxForLive note trigger handler instrument mentioned in the ClyphX lessons? I cannot afford the Ableton suite upgrade right now to get M4L.
Perhaps there's a way to make a 'Dummy' MIDI device that can be assigned as an output on an Ableton MIDI channel, and as the input for ClyphX? Or another obvious way I'm missing..
I thought a workaround might have been using my hardware MIDI controller. I can get X-Controls to work with my MPK 249 MIDI controller assigned as the ClyphX input. As in, I assign an X-control to a note, and it triggers when I hit that note on my MPK's keyboard. I thought I could have an Ableton MIDI track send that note to the MPK and then the MPK would send it right back and trigger the actions, but I can't figure that out either.
Exact situation in case there's a totally different solution: I'm trying to trigger the next scene command (SCENE > ) via a note in a MIDI clip, because I need to time scene changes a certain amount after the last scene trigger, but I don't want to use WAITS commands because if I want to repeat a scene and I trigger a WAIT before the previous WAIT ends, they don't 'overwrite' each other, compounding and leading to unpredictable results.

Yes, it is possible, although it is sort of uncomfortable to use. What you need to do is send out midi to a virtual midi port and route that back to ableton to use it as a midi input with remote switched on. The second step is to setup a midi track with x-clips and then midi map those to midi notes you send out from the other track. If I remember this correctly here is a video where this technique is demonstrated in another context: youtu.be/rk7uZn5ZCws?si=yfjN5N2J3tLBxQHvCheers, S Is there any way to trigger actions via notes WITHOUT using the MaxForLive note trigger handler instrument mentioned in the ClyphX lessons? Thank you very much. And since I can set the MIDI notes to trigger scene navigation (my main use for it right now) all with Ableton's built in mapping without using ClyphX, it feels safer and more reliable for live performance. I even downloaded the free trial of Live 12 Suite with M4L just so I could use the ClyphX Note Trigger Handler, my next show being within the trial window, but then the Note Trigger Handler was only working during the first session loaded upon Ableton's startup, which is apparently a common issue.. It seems like ClyphX Pro has diminished support from nativekontrol and that's a shame. Hopefully the open-source version gets a lot of love & attention from contributors in the coming years.

Well, the support is quite strong regarding isotonikstudio... (I am doing most of it) haha. But regarding development, Stray is working for Ableton now there are things you can do to fix that NTR issue, which I've done a video about and publish soon (for my patreons) I can say it works super stable in Live 11 and 12 in my case.

Well that's great for Stray. Hopefully that means some of ClyphX's functions become native to Ableton. But hopefully the open source ClyphX is kept active and keeps improving.
I figured out the virtual midi port and it's been working perfectly. I'm using it for looping functions and to trigger X-Controls.
Only once I figured all this out did I realize that 'Follow Actions' are literally exactly what I wanted for scene changes. I had totally ignored that section of Ableton for years for some reason, only to finally read into it this week.. I like that it triggers an exact scene regardless of what scene you have selected, so I don't have to worry about what scene I have highlighted at any given time.
I watched some of your content and it was very informative, thanks.
