Hi Stray, I got the idea that the nanoKontrol didn't really accept useful SysEx messages (like LEDs), but I wanted to ask you before I delve into MIDI-OX. I'm creating a plugin that controls Winamp via MIDI input (using Andy Grover's existing plugin groveronline.com/hacks/ that comes with the VC++ source github.com/agrover/winamp-midi-control/tree/master). Having LEDs update with song position would be sweet. If all else fails I could set up a preset for the padKontrol as well, and use the LEDs for fun/fancy stuff (maybe even a visualizer!). Thanks, Tom

Hi,
Hard to say for sure without seeing a MIDI implementation chart (which Korg support said will not be released). But I don’t think so. Reason being, the pK, mK and Kontrol49 all respond to the same native mode in/out request…the only difference is the model ID. The nanoKONTROL does not respond to that message in any way. Doesn’t really make sense to me to provide button lights, but not provide a means of controlling them. I have the same beef with the MPD32.
Regards,
Stray

Interesting...might have to do with the price of the nano series--it's cheaper to have more functionality in the software side of things and keep the hardware dumb. Anyway, thanks for the info!
